Local advice

Am arriving with my boyfriend in Bariloche on Friday, probably staying a week. As well as hiring a car and doing some driving around, we would like to do some more adventurous stuff. Not sure if activities i am reading about are available at this time of year. Is rafting happening now or is it just too cold? Can anyone suggest some must do activities for us?

Many thanks

I believe it is late for the rafting. Other things you can do are for example walk up to the Campanario (and down) it's a long walk, but amazing the views you see when you get to the top of the mount. Or, you can take the chairlift, but do it!! riding horses, treks, etc. Where are you staying? if at an estancia you can do everything there plus fly fishing, bird watching, hiking, etc.

Canopy thru the forest, renting a mountain bike and riding the circuito chico or one of the other trails, and rent a kayak if the lake is calm.

thanks for that - sorry not to have replied earlier, have just had a nightmare getting out of BA with the smoke problems but am relieved to finally be in Bariloche now. Aeroparke airport was a serious challenge! My partner wants to do some fishing but we have only managed to find one quite expensive day trip. (sounds great but he is not so fussed by an amazing lunch etc etc) Can anyone recommend any local guides or companies, or are we more likely to have better luck in one of the smaller towns?

you can email/private message alec who posted right above you -- he owns a trekking/sports/adventuure agency in Bariloche -- he has some very nice connections with fishing lodges or can set you up on a day trip.
