Banos pools

From the reviews I've seen, it seems the pools in Banos are crowded on the weekend, which is when our itinerary would allow us to go. Do any hotels have private pools?

NO hotels with private volcanic water pools. you can just try to jump into the pools and share with the locals. To avoid crowds try to go at 6 am, they open at 4 am. In this way you can avoid crowds.

Agree with the above. We went most days at 6.00 and it was great. By 7.30 it was getting crowded. Weekends it was jam packed with school kids later on but still ok if You go early enough

There are 3 pools in town. The most crowded is the one in town below the waterfall. There is another pool nearby that is not hot. There is a pool just outside of town called El Salado and it is less crowded.
