where to go at 5.30 am in Apia

Our plane lands at 5.35am and we are booked at Aggie Grey's bungalow first night. To check in early we have to pay the previous night cost plus $18 airport transfer. Any ideas where we can go with luggage until hotel check in time, and safely catch 40 winks.?

hi,

since you are going to aggies, perhaps by the time you acvtually get there, after the taxi ride which takes about an hour. you may be able to ask the staff to keep you luggage and lay in one on the pool side deck chairs,( habve a little relax!) then maybe go out for breakfast, what day of the week are you arriving? most places are closed sundays.

a place in town ( short walk or cheap $4 tala taxi ride is sydney side, they do great breakfasts). hopelfully the staff will let you check in early!

enjoy!!

Malo Sandy

By the time you get through customs it will probably be 7am. Two companies run an Airport to any hotel in Apia shuttle service for $15 tala into Apia (alternatively a cab will cost around 50-60 tala). They are P&F Shuster Tours on +685 23014 or +685 7790662 (no email addy) or Lanis Tours & Transfers on lanis_tours&transfers@samoa.ws or +685 7788108.

There is nowhere you can catch 40 winks for the short amount of time you have to wait until check-in unless you pay for a nights accommodation. I couldn't see that there would be a problem with getting the transfer bus and leaving your luggage safely at Aggies until check in time (which from memory is 1pm??). You can then either wander into Apia (about 10 mins walk or $3 tala in a taxi) sit and have a coffee and a rest at one of the Western style coffee shops, wonder around the markets, have lunch and by that time you'll be ready to check in. It takes an hour from the airport so you'd get to the airport hotel, after loading all passengers, around 8.30am so it really isn't a long time to wait. There are also many places (grassy areas) to sit and rest along the harbour side as well. Do a little exploring then catch up on some sleep. You can email Aggies at: General Enquiries - aggiesgreys@aggiegreys.ws or Reservations - reservations@aggiegreys.com.

Hope this helps.

Fire away if you have any more questions.

Actually sasa's idea is probably more what you're looking for, I can't see that the staff would object to you just taking up a couple of deck chairs by the pool, relaxing a little and then going to brekkie, lunch whatever. Do look at the Airport transfer services though rather than paying for the cab.
