Please could you advice me of a hotel near the Government Covention centre.

All accommodation in Apia is quite near to everything else be it by foot or inexpensive taxi. What sort of budget are you looking at?

Mid range check out Hotel Elisa, Hotel Millenia and going towards the higher range Tanoa Tusitala and Aggie Grey's Hotel and Bungalows. You can go further afield for better hotels and it's still only a 10-15 min taxi ride into town.

mid range I prefer Amanaki to Hotel Elisa- better pool, better service,better view and better restaurant

Agree with above - mid range, good personalised service = Amanaki. If you are happy to pay more - 5 minute drive up the hill to Le Manumea a better option than others mentioned.
