BCS Day Trips

We will be flying into Phoenix the evening of Jan 6th. I would like to plan sightseeing for Friday and Saturday. One day will be to the GC if I can get that tour arranged. Would love to hear your recommendations for the other day. Considering Tombstone or Sedona but open to suggestions. We are staying in Avondale

Sedona would be your logical choice on your way to the GC or on the way home. It's so beautiful there with lots of fun things to do and see. Forget Tombstone. It's too far away for your short visit. The GC is an easy drive from the Phoenix area. You should really consider renting a car. Are you only for here until Saturday? It's hard to make recommendations without knowing more about your interests. You could spend the night in Sedona to have more time there or if you want to come back to Phoenix the top 3 recommendations would be the Heard Museum, Musical Instrument Museum, and Desert Botanical Garden.

GCNP is a four hour drive from Phoenix. Sedona would be a great half way point to break it up.

Thanks for your quick replies. We will be in town from Th-Wed. Part of Sunday and all day Monday will be spent doing football championship related activities. I do have a rental car but was considering a tour company for the GC trip. Interests - wide open to seeing anything new.

What would be your top things to see in that area? Also interested in local restuarants.

Do GCNP and Sedona as a 2 day overnight trip in your own car. The time you'll save on the road by not driving it twice will be more than worth the price of an extra room for the night. GCNP is simple to tour on your own. Again, the money you save by not paying for a tour will pay for the car and a room.

Tombstone is the opposite direction and really offers nothing compared to GC and Sedona.

Come to Sedona, spend a night, then the next day, go to the Grand Canyon. Check out www.visitsedona.com/index.php/groupings/27… for great deals pertaining to Bowl fans!

And forget the tour thing, you are much better off doing it by yourself...

Sedona and GCNP! Spend a night at either place but SEE BOTH! We were in the area in October and fell in love with Sedona. Enjoy your trip and WAR EAGLE!

GC will be a tough day trip; definitely worth an overnight, if possible.

Sedona is a great day trip, or longer, from PHX. Sedona deserves more than a half day, especially if you like to hike or enjoy the scenery.

Also think about a stop at Montezuma's Castle, if you are so inclined.
