Wildfires in Arizona -- affect Sedona, Grand Canyon

I know they are saying Northeastern Arizona, but I saw a map that had them just to the east of Sedona, where I'll be traveling next week.

Any of you closer to the situation know if Sedona is in danger?

Thanks!

Sedona and the GCNP are not experiencing any effects or danger from The current fires. However, we are included in the red flag warning zones for potential new fires. Caution is always advised.

None of that area is in danger. The big, Wallow Fire is by the New Mexico State Line, which is over 200 miles from Sedona. There are some smaller fires still active nearer to Flagstaff, but they're contained and pose little threat.

There was a wildfire near Sedona and the Grand Canyon. earlier this week. It was south of Flagstaff, which might show up on a map near Sedona. However Forest Service reports that fire had been contained at mid week. However, the situation could change quickly because of extremely dry conditions and lots more wind than we usually get, particularly in the high country of northern Arizona.

The current major fire is in the White Mountains, which is basically central, eastern Arizona, a couple of hundred miles from Sedona and the Grand Canyon. The other is down in the southeastern corner of the state. There is a third that is in southern Arizona just above the border with Mexico.

Northern Arizona, near Sedona and the Grand Canyon, are extremely vulnerable at this time as are all forest lands in the state. If you smoke, make sure your butts aren't flipped into the brush.

Have a good trip, but use caution, please.

The smoke is in eastern Arizona and not going anywhere near Phoenix and Scottsdale.

I am in Scottsdale, and our air is clear, the winds are pulling this to the north and east primarily from what i understand.

Don't cancel your plans, the fire is in the far eastern portion of AZ, right near New Mexico. There probably is more smoke in Colorado than in Sedona.
