July 4 celebrations and fireworks in Phoenix?

We will be at the J W Marriott at Desert Ridge on July 4 and I would like to know if there are any fireworks displays in that area that you guys would recommend? Thanks

Tempe Town Lake is the biggest show in the the Valley. Fewer big shows due to our extreme wildfire risk here.

You'll need to plan to spend most of the day at Tempe. The crowds are huge and traffic will be heavy going in and even heavier at night after the light show. It will be a fun and memorable day, but long and tiring. Be careful and stay safe.

Good advice RedRox. Any thoughts on getting the VIP Garden Tickets? Worth it or not?

Just remember that it will be incredibly hot, even after the sun goes down, so make sure you bring pretty of water to stay cool and hydrated. Not always, but usually it's around 100 degrees still when the shows start. Unfortunately everything is so crowded that people get their spots hours before the show, so you are in the heat even longer if you actually want to be on sight (vs just finding a place that you can see the show). I know it's not anywhere the same, but if it doesn't work out, the local TV channel also broadcasts one of the shows live.

If you don't want to put up with the heat, traffic, parking, crowds and all that goes with the Tempe show, I suggest you look into the view from the misted terrace at The Buttes restaurant. You can make reservations, show up at the last minute, have valet parking and put your feet up with a cool drink and watch the entire city at your feet as it explodes in fireworks. It is a different way to view the celebration. You don't get the heartstopping BOOMS, but you also get none of the hassles. Reserve now for dinner and/or drinks.

If you looking to celebrate the 4th early or twice this year be sure to check out 3rd Annual Southwest Ambulance Arizona Celebration of Freedom in downtown Mesa Jun29 & 30. http://goo.gl/VqJMz

The Hyatt Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale is doing a shoot - most likely for guests but check with them on public access or perhaps if you are there having a drink?

Driving by Salt Rivers Fields (DBacks Spring Training site at the 101 and Indian Bend Road, near Scottsdale) and saw they were advertising fireworks on July 3 (TUES) after the Miranda Lambert concert.
