Airport shuttle, getting around cheaply

Hi

I will be in Phoenix from the 3rd until the 6th Feb for a conference. We will be two people. I was wondering if there is a cheaper way to get to and from the airport to the Best Western PLUS INNsuites Phoenix than a taxi? Also are there cheaper taxi's than others?

Thank you

Did you decide against renting a car? This will make it difficult when it comes time to eat or do anything else around your hotel. Other than whatever snacks might be available at the hotel, you will find it is at least a 1/2 mile walk in a not very pedestrian friendly neighborhood to get to places to eat. It will not be a very economical use of your time or money to continually call for taxis where you are located.

For one person you could save some money using Super Shuttle from the airport. For two or more it is cheaper to use one of the highly regulated and metered airport cabs. That will probably cost between $30-35. There are the Prius "green" cabs, but I have no idea if they are any cheaper. There are also "gypsy" cabs with their phone number sprayed on the door, but I wouldn't trust them.

Hi, yes, we ended staying over in New York before the conference. We will only be there from a few hours before conference starts and leaving early the next morning. There will be both lunch and dinner sold at the conference so it will be eating breakfast at the hotel and the rest at the conference venue. We found it too expensive to rent for one return trip a day when you include insurance and thus decided against renting... Thank you for the info.

There are shared shuttles, like Super Shuttle, but they tend to be more expensive than a taxi if you have two or more people, and typically take quite a bit longer because they will pick up other riders. The only other option would be public transportation, which would involve a transfer from bus to light rail, and it would take quite a bit of time. May be worth looking in to though: http://valleymetro.org/
