wakeboarding and jet skiing near phoenix

Hello!

Does anyone have experience with boating on lakes near Scottsdale - Saguaro lake, Canyon lake? Other

Which lake would you recommend? For a family of 4 with kids ages 8 and 12 should we rent 2 jet skis or one wakeboard boat? Do you need a boating permit?

I see the boat rental places are located in town; do they deliver and launch the boat or do you have to do it yourself?

Thanks for any feedback!

Susieq

Both lakes have on-site facilities for rentals and you do not need a permit, however, you will need to sit through a safety video. My kids love to ride, so as long as you have two adults (drivers), and two kids, I would rent two:)

Both lakes are great. Saguaro is usually a bit busier in the summer months and is easier to access from north Phoenix / Scottsdale. Canyon Lake is smaller and best to access from the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Apache Jct.) Canyon has a fairly large bay that's good for skiing, wakeboarding, etc. It also has a long stretch heading upriver that can get pretty narrow and crowded but sill has room for water sports. Saguaro is generally wider in most areas of the lake.
