Girls trip...

I looking for gals long weekend trip at the end of July...

We like to hang by the pool, have a few cocktails, a little shopper and go out to a nice dinner. Whats a hotel with a great pool that is walking distance or a short cab ride to night life/resturants?

Also, is it too hot to be out at the pool in July?

I would look at FireSky Resort near downtown Scottsdale. You could walk to tons of restaurants and bars from there or utilize their free shuttle service (which I would suggest you take advantage of) if it's too hot. The pool area is nice and even has a sand beach entry. They also have a complimentary wine hour each evening in the lobby. And. it's just across the way from Scottsdale Fashion Square (the southwest's largest shopping mall). If you opt to stay at FireSky be sure to get an "interior" faceing room with a pool/lagoon/corutyard view otherwise you'll be looking out at the parking lot.

Another choice nearby would be Hotel Valley Ho but be advised the pool scene there is more of a party scene with a DJ etc. The end of July will be hot but the pools will fee good. Just be sure to slather on the sunscreen and probably avoid the mid/hottest parts of the day.

One other suggestion is the Westin Kierland, from there you can walk to Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter which both have a variety of restaurants, bars and shopping.

I work right accross the street from Firesky... it is an OK resort, there are plenty of nicer ones. If you want to walk to the night life and shopping in Scottsdale you should stay at the W. They also have a great night life them selves... you probably won't even want to leave. It is only about a 5 min walk from Scottsdale Fashion Square mall too.

Another great option would be Scottsdale Fairmont Princess in N. Scottsdale... this is truely a nice 5 star resort, with 9 pools, it is onlyl 1 mile from Kierland Commons/Quarters great shopping/dinning nightlife too, Id bet the Fairmont will have a shuttle there.... the W is just a big nice hotel, but from W, you can walk to hundreds of clubs, restaraunts.

Other FANTASTIC resorts are Phonician, Westin Kierland, Montelucia. These are all a short drive to shopping/clubs.

Agree with Firesky as a good choice, also W and Valley Ho...those tend to be the big 3 for pool "scenes" in the downtown area. You will not be walking too much in the daylight hours, it is just too hot. Yes, the pools will feel good, but do your shopping during the hottest time of day (afternoons) indoors.

Montelucia is also a good recommendation for their pool scene, it is beautiful and it is the most luxurious of those in the downtown area. There is nothing within walking distance, but it is a short cab ride to downtown area.
