Which resort is best for us.

We are two couples in our late 30's who are going to spend 4 days in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area. We are leaving the kids behind, but kids do not bother us. We are looking to relax, have some night life, and would like to stay at a place that does not charge 20 dollars for a drink. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!!!

Will you have a rental car or do you need to be walking distance/public transportation? And around what price range were you looking to spend?

FireSky Resort would be one to look at. Valley Ho and The Saguaro are both good locations as well, I haven't stayed there recently so I would read recent reviews. The Saguaro has been thru a few ownership changes.

The W is probably a bit too much party and not enough relax... and my favorite drink at the pool bar is $15... it's delicious though!

We will not have a rental car so it would be nice to be close to some other things. We do enjoy a nice pool and like to have a good time during the day. Thanks!

You don't say when you when will be here or what your budget is . Time of year makes a BIG different in price. You can get our luxury resorts with all the amenities for little more than a normal hotel during the off-season summer. Real bargains can be scooped up then.

I suggest you look at the world famous Arizona Biltmore to fill all your needs as requested. In addition to the two golf courses just outside the front door, great hiking, views, excellent restaurants there is some of the best shopping, drinking and eating in the state only 1/2 mile away. They have a free hourly shuttle to take you to and from the Biltmore Fashion Park and the Esplanade where you can find drinks and grub in all price ranges and in your age group. The above suggested hotels might be a little young for your gang.

If the Biltmore is a little too pricey for you, then consider the Hampton Inn Biltmore just across the street from the Ritz Carlton. Walking distance to all the places listed below.

I agree with msu_gal. Any of those hotels she mentioned would be great; there are also a few more budget hotels in the Old Town vicinity. Firesky has a nice pool area, too. If you stay near Old Town, you'll be able to walk to a huge variety of restaurants and shops. There's also a free Old Town trolley.
