weather in August

We are leving for Sedona this Saturday and I just read online that august is a month of monsoon. How should we plan our day activities so not to get stocked in the middle of a hike with a sudden rain and thunder. How often does it happen?

Rains in Sedona during monsoon season are brief but intense downpours. Just wait it out or delay hiking if threatening weather is in the area.

You really do not want to be hiking in the August heat in the middle of the afternoons anyway--rain or no rain. Plan hikes early in the day.

We are planning a late July / early August trip to Sedona next year. As we live in the UK we want warm, sunny weather. Although it can rain there in summer, are we still pretty much guaranteed good weather most of thge time?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it's sunny here most of the time. The monsoons have been occurring in the afternoon, mostly late afternoon, or late at night. They usually don't last too long.

thanks for that. Sounds good! On another topic-we want to stay centrally so we can walk out to restaurants in the evening as we don't like driving at night. Could you suggest anywhere or any particular area?

Uptown or the Gallery District is where you can walk. There are plenty of lodging options in this area. Downside is heavy traffic.

The traffic has not been heavy except on holiday week-ends or late in the afternoon on Sunday when traffic is coming down from Oak creek Canyon. There are 3 pedestrian crossings in uptown that work quite well. I am here every day and use them often. The rains when they come only last around 15 to 20 minutes.
