A day in Sedona wiith parents

We will be in Sedona with parents for a day and from all the reviews on trip advisor there seems to be lot of hiking trails , climbing rocks etc. Parents are above 65 and won't be able to do much climbing or strenuous hikes. Any suggestions for how to spend the day here ?? Walk around take in the sites & history , photographs and easy hiking trails / scenic lookout spots ?? Thanks

Don't be intimidated by the word "hike".

Sedona is one of the most scenic places you will ever see, and it can be enjoyed by folks of all ages and mobile ability. Being in the outdoors is the key. You needn't walk or hike very far from your car unless you want to. There are scores of places to simply pull off the road and take it in. Many of these offer short and simple walking paths, mostly well graded, some even paved. Distances are a non issue. You walk as far as you choose and then you turn around.

There are many historic sites, art galleries and shopping attractions too. And for a small town, Sedona is hard to beat for overall quality and quantity of dining choices.

Your only regret will be that you don't have more time for Sedona.

Antelope Canyons at Page are on Navajo Reservation land. Guided tours are the ONLY way you can visit. If walking and mobility is an issue, you'll want to choose Upper AC. That is the flatter and more easily accessible option. But it still requires a walk in sand, at a very leisurely pace, of nearly a half mile. And the ride up the wash to the canyon entrance (in the tour vehicle) is an adventure too.

Two places they might like are The Chapel of the Holy Cross, you can drop off at the top by the entrance and park below if necessary. Also Tlaquepaque is a beautiful shopping/art/restaurant plaza that is easy to negotiate. Here is a recent thread with some other easy hikes in the area:

There are places everywhere that you can pull over and park and take pictures without having to walk far. Be sure to include a drive up Oak Creek Canyon -the Dairy Queen is a good turn around point if your parent don't like the somewhat windy road.
