Need Trip Planning help!

Our family of 5 will be staying 7 nights in VOC next week. So far this is what i have planned so far:

Day 1-Arrive-shop-settle in-see sunset at Red Rock Croosing?

Day 2-Swim at Slide Rock Park. Dinner at Elote or Cowboy Club

Day 3 Pink Jeep AM .....Dinner in Town(?)

Day 4 Day trip to Jerome

Day 5 Grand Canyon Day Trip

Day 6 Hiking---Need advise

Day 7 Hiking.... possibly renting a 4 wheeler then dinner at Elote

Day 8 back to Phoenix

Need help with Hiking suggestions(as far as what is close and realistic to do before the afternoon heat), and any other suggestions. We want to see as much of the Sedona sights as possible, while still making it a relaxing vacation.

Thanks for the help!

Bell Rock and Courthouse Loop are both close to VOC and good morning hike options. The rest of your plan works. Don't miss the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

On day one, you can stop and see Montezuma Castle on the way up from Phoenix, and if you can tolerate the heat, stop at Montezuma's Well also.

On day two, allow time to drive up Oak Creek Canyon as well as visiting Slide Rock.

Be sure and book Pink Jeeps ahead of time. You may want to consider booking your rental car as a 4wd SUV so you can explore the area, too.

Day 1-Stop at the Visitor Center for Red Rock pass, trail map, and possibly sourvenirs.

For hiking in the Village in addition to Bell Rock and Cathedral Rock there is Baldwin Trail down by Oak Creek which you can take to Templeton Trail which will take you to Cathedral Rock. Children if any will enjoy playing in the creek.

My husband also likes Llama Trail where he frequently sees golden eagles near Courthouse Rock. He also likes Little Horse Trail in the Chapel area.

If you are interested in cliff dwellings it's a 15 minute walk to Montezuma Castle in Camp Verde, a little south of here.

If you are interested in petroglyphs, you may like Circle V Bar V also in Camp Verde. Check for days and hours. There are docents who tell you about the history of the petroglyphs.

You may want to think about adding a hike to West Fork (in Oak Creek Canyon) the day you go to Slide Rock, and get a snack at Indian Gardens.

Be sure to take plenty of water and sunscreen. We can drink a bottle of water in an hour when hiking.

Also be sure to put valuables in the trunk before you get to the trailheads and keep your car locked, windows closed. Sadly sometimes tourist areas attract people who break in if they see valuables in plain sight.
