Red Rock Crossing water levels in mid March?

Hi there...we were in Sedona last February and one of our favorite things was crossing over the stepping stones at Red Rock Crossing, hiking along the river, and then around Cathedral Rock. My daughter who will join us this time, would also like to 'cross the stepping stones'.

In Feb, most of them were shallowly covered in water. We took off our shoes and socks, and went across...it was COLD!!!! But it was definitely doable. This time it will be mid march...are water levels generally higher that time of year due to run off?? I don't want to pay the $9.00 to find out the water is too deep to cross, then have to drive elsewhere.

If we forgo Red Rock Crossing, where can we park on the other side of the creek? Is it Verde School?? Where exactly can we park, and what road is best to get us there?

Thank you so much!!

Water levels might be a little higher in March and it will still be frigid. If you prefer the south/east side of the creek you can access it via Verde Valley School Road. The last couple of miles is dirt and can be rough or dusty or muddy depending on current weather. You'll have to park in the lot about 1/4 mile from the dead end of the road and walk down to the creek.

Thank you RedRox. Barring muddy roads, can the road be easily accessed in a regular car?

Our other option is to park on the 'front' side of CR, and walk around to the creek and back again. Only issue with that is that we were hoping to be at that spot for sunset as it makes for lovely photos. The walk back might be too dark for our liking.

Normally the road is fine for normal vehicles as long as you drive it slowly with caution. Much better option for sunset than hiking down from the CR trailhead.

You should be able to inquire locally as to water levels when you visit and make a suitable decision.
