Drive from Santa Fe to Sedona

Hello -

I looked on google maps and it seems that I40 is the best route to take from Santa Fe to Sedona. If this is the case, are there tourist stops along the way as well as gas/rest stops?

Thanks!

I-25 down to I-40 to I-17to 89A to be exact. We do the drive quite often. Allow about 6-7 hours plus stops. Plenty of options for gas after ALB, most notably at Grants, Gallup, Holbrook, Winslow and Flagstaff.

If you have a few hours for a stop, the ruins at Acoma Sky City are worth while. In AZ you'll go by Petrified Forest NP, Painted Desert NM, Walnut Canyon NM and of course Oak Creek Canyon as you approach Sedona. Each of these stops would require a couple of hours so choose one. You'll want to be in Sedona before the sun goes down.

Plenty of stops. So many you easily can take 2 days for the commute. Petrified Forest is a National Park. Stop at Winslow for food at La Posada and if you are an Eagles fan go and see "Standing on the Corner".
