Elote cafe would be the top recommendation. Barking Frog is a good second choice. Perhaps you can be a little more specific. Southwest food covers a pretty wide range of epicurean desires

Two great options from RedRox. I liked the Barking Frog better than Elote.

If you happen to go to Jerome, try Vaqueros Grill and Cantina.

yes , i love the food, drinks and service at elote. I just am over the wait, his no res. policy is good for him bad for the diners waiting 2 hrs with no atmosphere. elote has taken the southwest food preparation ,which i know is broad to a whole new level which is why we and sooo many of you love it. thanks for the other ideas. any others?

I like Elote, but understand your objections. Have you tried Quinze in Cottonwood? It's pretty casual, and they make wonderful chicken enchiladas. They had some glitches when they first moved from Jerome to their much larger location, but service has been good lately. We've been with friends a couple of times, and everyone was happy. I like the blue corn enchiladas, and my husband gets the New Mexico burger.

I'm going to have to pile in the pick up and zoom up to Cottonwood. I'm a sucker for anything with blue corn.

I always get the blue corn tortillas cooked on the flat stones and piled high with anything at the annual Heard Museum Indian Fair and Market which is always held the first weekend in March when the weather is perfect. If you're in the neighborhood check it out.

I agree...blue corn tortillas are good, and the chef is pretty creative. I hope you will get to try it!
