november weather

our family is planning a trip to the grand canyon over thanksgiving, Will the weather be ok or is this a terrible time to visit. We dont mind dressing warm but we dont want to get caught in a blizzard. any advise????

Grand Canyon can have snow in November. However, it's not usually blizzard snow. I see you are from Milwaukee, which I believe probably gets pretty snowy. It's unlikely you will encounter a lot of snow. Cold, yes. Snow, probably not and if snow, it would most likely be less than 5 inches. More likely a dusting.

Temperatures will probably get into the upper 20's or low 30's at night. Daytime will probably be in the mid 50's or warmer. Check www.azcentral.com for weather reports.

If it is snowing, do not take Route 180 from Flagstaff. This road gets very snowy. Take Rt. 64 from Williams instead.

Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest weeks at the Grand Canyon. Most people like to have Thanksgiving dinner at the El Tovar. If you do, be prepared for at least a 1-2 hour wait. They start dinner at noon.
