1. Re: Help!!!

Kanturk isn't really on the tourist trail.

In terms of driving, it will take you roughly a day or so to drive from London to Kanturk. Take the M4/A4 as far s Fishguard and get a ferry fromt here. Then drive from Rosslare to Cork and then Kanturk.

Alternatively you could drive to Holyhead, then get a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin or Dun Laoghaire and then get the motorway down to Cork/Kanturk.

We find the roads much better via Holyhead and the distance is pretty much the same from Limerick. The ferries on the Holyhead route are also less likely to be cancelled if there is bad weather. The junction between St. George's Channel and the Irish Sea can get quite rough at times.

Check out www.aaroadwatch.ie/routes for directions and distances on the various routes.

Kanturk is quite small. There is no hotel in the town.

www.europetraditions.com/ireland/int/003.html is outside the town and is excellent.

http://www.longuevillehouse.ie/ is easy distance from Kanturk and is quite upmarket, but fab.

Mallow town is not too far away and would give you more options.

the shortest driving route would be to go to Swansea and get the Cork ferry, depends how much you like boats, its my preferred route, a lot less driving but 10 hours at sea, the ferry is quite expensive but it saves a nights B and B each way, i have never been able to do Pembroke/Rosslare or Holyhead/Dublin in a day, always have to have a stop somewhere.
