Spending a night in Nenagh then heading to Aschill Island, which route would be most interesting for a scenic days drive with some stops on the way?
You could catch the N59 at Galway City and take a route through Connemara. No shortage of scenery there, and might add just a bit of time to your trip.
(Note on the spelling in case you're trying to look it up or something: Achill)
I would say cross the west side of Lough Derg and a few other winding ways,
But sensible would be up to Portumna East of the Lough. follow through past the Castle, Work House Centre and Forest park.
Stay straight on untill the R353 for and through Abbey. At the dog leg follow the R351 down into Loughrea, You pass the Cathedral on your left then the council building and turn right, Follow the Galway M6 signs,
From Galway follow the N59 to Maam Cross, You can follow the main road and go via Clifden or cut up the Famine road to Leenane. If you want to call at Kylemore Abbey but miss Clifden stay on the N59 through Recess and take the R344 to Kylemore.
From Leenane you can stay on the N59 but I would take the more scenic drive on the R335 before re joining the N59 at Westport. Left turn onto Achill after Mulranny.
Long days drive taking in a few sights.
