Not the cheapest (about 11 euros),but in my opinion the best quality, and very comfortable, is Pepe Rico in C/Cristo just up from the Post Office.

Restaurante El Puente (over the bridge from Supersol), I haven't been since summer, but think it's €8 or €9. The estafado (meat stew) as a starter is a meal in itself.

Other than the above, get the bus to Torrox Costa and walk down the Promendade. Lots of Menu del Dia choice from €6.50 to €8. Try Castilla de Inma - all you can eat buffet for €8 (weekends includes BBQ).

Come to Torrox Costa market on Monday, when you get to the end near the Hotel Ferrara, call in to Los Pacos Pizzeria, Any 2 Pizzas + bottle of wine for €10 (Best pizzas in town IMO).

Pavoreal beat me to it! El Puente is great value and the estafado is wonderful!

Get in before 2 pm, which is when the workmen take their lunch and the place quickly fills up. Conversely, the estafado is better later in the day as it's had time to "do" a bit more!

If you're sitting inside, avoid the bar area and use the main restaurant at the back. If you're outside, make sure you get some shade - it can be a sun trap!

Thank you for that. Now to be cheeky. Can you recommend a few atmospheric, good value Tapas bars?

El Puente. Was in there for lunch 10 days ago (on a Saturday).Sat outside as recommended out of the wind and in the sun.Great spot.Good food and wine.Just one thing you need to be aware of...

It was Saturday as I said and we did not arrive until about 1.30pm.Mrs WirralScouse sat outside while I went in to assess the tapas selection and other lunch options.Mayhem in there - chockful of intoxicated, loud, well-to-do British ex-pats of mature vintage who appeared to have converted El Puente into their own private Saturday club.I kept saying Excuse Me as I tried to get to the food display but they would not give way-women were especially ignorant.Eventually a member of staff came from behind the bar and escorted me on a roundabout route, via the barstaff area, to the main display cabinet.

I have heard since from a regular local member on TA Nerja Forum by PM that my experience is not a one-off occasion as at weekends the said group have made this their regular meeting place and have been a nuisance to others.

WirralScoucse, why El Puente? It's not even easy to park there, the road from the old carpinteria to the welcome sign of Nerja is usually full with cars. Not that I know if the lads go by car or not...?

Not to be able to check out the tapas or other food because of people partying seems to me awful. El Peunte is a good resto, yes, I tasted the estofado :-) But, it have happened to my wife and her friends a couple of times that even lunch have been disturbed by people just getting sick on the terracce!

Imo, there are enough British pubs around for all that behaviour.

But, then again. Maybe it is a great sign of development or I don't know what that brit ex-pats choose a Spanish place to celebrate a saturday afternoon?

Frankly, I do not know. I have been pushed around and put down too many a times by compañeros like the above mentioned to really care. I am just a swede.

WirralScouse, you speak the language and from all your postings I know you know your way around. How can any of these people really annoy you?

Anyway, El Puente is a great place and the food is well worth the price, I recommend it fully. Hmmm, I can not exactly say what time to be there, usually I don't know... salud!

The restaurant has a fairly large car park, which is accessed from the road that you refer to MikeatPuntaLara. The entrance is on the right, just after you leave the main road from the Supersol/Frigiliana roundabout directions, going towards the donkey sanctuary.

IMO their menu del dia is excellent value. We were there again the other day and the Estofado was delicious.

I agree that the behaviour of some of the (sadly)mainly British customers who seem to gather at the end of the bar, especially at weekends, does leave a great deal to be desired on occasion.

Unfortunately this can sometimes be the case when a group of people meet regularly, and then adopt some kind of territorial herd instinct.

Ensuing rudeness is not acceptable to other customers however, and it is up to the owner to address the situation quickly.
