supermarket

Hi

We're renting an apartment in Frigiliana in September and are due to arrive around 18.00 on the Saturday. Where would the nearest supermarkets be please or should we stop en route to frigiliana?

Thanks

Suggest you stop en route at the El Ingenio shopping mall at Torre del Mar. There is a large Eroski supermarket here.

Right by the motorway - exit 272 - about 15 minutes before the Frigiliana exit.

I agree that El Ingenio is the best place to stop, it's easy to get to from the motorway but a little difficult to get back on if you don't know the roads, there is no immediate slip road, you have to more or less do a circular tour of the complex. I know the way so never read the road signs, therefore cannot tell you the route, perhaps Casaiandra can give more directions to look for!

Saturday evening is a popular time for locals to shop so the car park will be very busy. Ensure that ALL your luggage, bags and valuables are well out of sight.

For just food shopping there are plenty of supermarkets in Nerja that would be much cheaper for you to go to.

However, the El Ingenio centre has far much more than just the Eroski supermarket and is well worth a trip.

The centre has a C&A, Dunnes (similar to M+S but much cheaper), Zara, Mango, specialist clothes shops, household furnishing shops, jewellers, Perfume shops plus Cafes/Bars/Restaurants, a bowling alley and multiplex cinema (currently no films in English).

To save on money go by bus - 1.51 Euro each way - then walk the short distance to the centre. You can either get a taxi back that would cost around 30 Euro or get the local bus back from the centre to Torred el Mar bus station then the bus back to Nerja.

You could shop on line at Mecadonna before you go & have the shopping delivered after you arrive.

Or Supersol & I think Mas supermarkets deliver if you spend over a certain amount (50e?) Go in & do your shopping & then they'll deliver it later.

Don't know if it applies to Frigiliana though (mcwil). I doubt it!

Thanks for all your suggestions. We may just head straight to Frigiliana, quick shower and out for a nice meal and then do the shopping the following day. I'm assuming there's a mini-mart or something in the village for milk, bread etc.

Going out to eat sounds like a great way to start your holiday in Frigliana! Just a thought but do/would the people you are renting from provide a basic welcome pack of milk, bread etc. that would do you for the first morning?

Just another thought, are the little supermarkets in Frigiliana open on Sundays?

I didn't think the Nerja supermarkets were open on Sundays in September.

Surely all you have to do (assuming you are coming from Malaga direction on the motorway ) is when you arrive at the slip road roundabout between Frigiliana and Nerja go right towards Nerja instead of left to Frig and after half a mile there is both Supersol and Mercadona nearby. I think etheyclsoe at about 8pm Saturdays There is no reason to stop at Eroski on first day - very big, may have long way to walk from car park and as mentioned a nightmare to find your way out of first time.
