which bus to take?

Hi, hopefully someone can help me with this. When one comes out of of Malaga airport which bus do I get tobus station for transfer to Nerja? Are there two bus stations in Malaga and if so do buses run from both to Nerja?. There are two bus stops outside airport, which one to take? thanks

Hi, come straight out of T3 (in a straight line) & catch the Line A bus to the Malaga bus station (2e) At the bus station the Nerja coach usually leaves from stand 38, next to where the Line A bus drops you off. The Alsa ticket desk is at the other end of the bus station :-( Nice coach journey 1hr - 1 30 ish depending whether it's a direct service or not.

Look on the Alsa website for times.

Hi, you can also take the train from the airport to the centre of Malaga. It goes from the airport (well signposted ) to Maria Zambrano station and costs about €1.30. Journey takes 12 minutes and trains are 3 minutes past the hour and half hour. Once you reach Malaga you cross the indoor shopping centre straight to the bus station to catch the bus to Nerja. The bus from the airport costs around the same but the journey can take a lot longer due to volume of traffic and roadworks. We opt for the train every time. Hope this is of some help.

I know lots of people use the train & say it's excellent. But for us the bus works fine in so much as there are (also) 2 buses per hour, they leave from right outside T3 arrivals and they take you directly to the bus station. Admitedly I haven't tried the train but (to me) it just sounds like a bit more faffing around for a relatively short journey.

Agree the bus is simpler, but at peak times it can be very crowded, especially with all the luggage.

have used both and have to agree bus seems less hassle for some reason.

also there is a auto ticket machine infront of the booths if there is a long line.

have used it a few times with no problem but it seems tempremental as a few have had problems. look for the little union jack in the corner for english version

It is peak time and there have been reports of people not been able to get on to the airport transfer bus, especially at the airport - not a problem with the train.

Also this has been a poblem on a number of occasions on the Nerja - Málaga Alsa services at stops further along the route, most notably Torre del Mar. Standing is not allowed,so once all of the seats have gone that's it.

Best advice - allow plenty of time at this time of year especially.
