Plaza de Espana

Can some local expert (or anyone else who is aware of the history) please explain what happened (or, more probably, did not) to the Plaza de Espana??

Regardless of the architecture (& I can understand why it is as it is) , it is an absurd & criminal situation that it is being left as is now - i.e. a scooter park & shortcut. Surely, the owners could let off the ground floor units at an affordable rent which would not only give them some sort of return but also provide much needed employment for hundreds.

For those in Nerja this weekend the Plaza de España is actually in use - it's hosting an Environmental Awareness Day on Saturday between 11:00 and 20:00 (siesta break 14 - 16):

< The aim is to raise awareness of the need to balance ecological, economic and social development of our planet >

Ironic really when you think what's planned for Playazo and the amount of sea pollution created by Nerja.....
