Bahia principe Tenerife to El Puertito beach

Would love to visit this beach when we stay at Bahia Principe. Is it walkable? It looks as though a bit on an incline on route back. Also from a safety point of view is the road busy? We will have 6 and 8 yr old with us.

Hi Emma,

Ive looked into beaches for when we go and looks as if the best bet is the free bus or a taxi to Las Americas for golden sands and loungers etc

Thanks Stu, but having looked into El Puertito def want to visit. Not really looking for a beach to lounge on - but who knows, might visit Las Americas too.

Hi Emma, This is a link to the route, http://goo.gl/maps/0LgrO it says 17 mins to walk, I thought it was closer but have always been in the car.

The hotel is very isolated so you will get little traffic only that going to the hotel and the odd one like me going down to El Puertito. Once you have the route in you mind pull the little man across to the map and then you can see exactly what it is like as you walk down. The map takes you to the back of some buildings !! But if you do the virtual walk, once you get to the tiny church head straight down the road and at the beige building walk to the right then across the rough ground only a couple of paces and you are at the sea.

Hi Emma

We walk to El Puertito most times we visit. Leave the hotel and headout right across the scrubland - there is a small track but quite rocky - you need sensible sandals or trainers. You'll reach the road which then curves down to El Puertito - you can cut off the bend and go down the scrub but wouldn't recommend it. The whole walk there takes 20-30 minutes. Coming back you have to climb the hill up the road which can be a little hot.

El Puertito is a tiny wee little place with a bar and a small amount of black sand. Husband and I like to go and sit with a beer in the bar but not sure your kids would be particularly enamoured.
