eating and foodie shopping

I'm looking for recommendations for good restaurants (not too expensive), pubs and foodie outlets e.g fresh fish, farmers' markets in and around Wells. Thanks in advance.

The Tastes of Anglia website should help you, it has lists of Farmer's Markets and farm shops which sell good quality local produce. There is a Cider Producer in Wells, also farm shops nearest I can find are at Hunstanton and Cley-next-the-Sea.

The Crown at Wells is very good -

as is the White Horse at Brancaster.

Holt has 2 excellent Delis - one called Byfords which is also a cafe.

I second the recommendation for Byfords - food in the restaurant is good but it does get very busy. Their deli is also good, as is the food hall in Larners (a department store in Holt).

Might be too late to help but we have just returend from Wells next the Sea and have eaten really well all weekend.

On the way back we stocked up on provisions in the Walsingham Farm Shop (excellent pies and scones to take away) and the Ale Shop (turning between Wells and Walsingham on main road) where we got excellent service and a selection of 50 bottled ales to choose from.

We ate in the Crown hotel on Saturday night which was excellent and the most amazing service in the bar area with our food, with a fantastic upbeat atmosphere (we walked in the globe inn and walked back out as atmosphere was very sterlie and canteen like). Worth splashing out for food here!

A bit cheaper was the Edinburgh pub (or knownwn as Ollies)and the Cornerhouse. Both of which did excellent pub food, and very good service at more reasonable pub prices.

The Wells deli on the harbourfront also has a great takeaway shop - recommend the tarts and treacle cakes.

The whole area had a good foodie culture, and you are not too far from anyone good to eat.
