Hi,

Take U. S. Dollars and change them into Bolivars when you're over there, you'll get a better exchange rate.

Hey Wendy, this question has been asked before, but the reply has always been a bit ambiguous (don;t know how to spell that word!!). Where is the best place to change your dollars ?

The best place to change your dollars is at the supermarket or maybe one of the taxi drivers at your hotel. Do not change your dollars at the hotel reception you don't get the best rate. When we were at the Pueblo Caribe in July the hotel reception were giving 2150 to the dollar and we were getting between 3000-3500 from taxi drivers or the supermarket. Hope this helps

Hi Craigsloman,

We changed our dollars with Marcos as we had booked our trips with him, we were able to get 3,300 bolivars to the dollar off him (I believe some people who have been since have had up to 3,500 off him) as opposed to 2,100 at the hotel, but make sure you take either 50 or 100 US dollar notes with you. We stayed at the Dunes hotel and I know there were some reliable boys on the beach who would give you a good rate too.
