budgeting for our trip -and recommendations for restaurants!

hi there

we're off to margarita on feb 10th (staying at the dunes) and want to go off the resort to have dinner and stuff a few times. wondering how much we should be budgeting for say, a dinner out with drinks? is it expensive? we'll be bringing US dollars and exchanging once we are over there. Any recommendations for restaurants with good food at a decent price?

also what is the closest city to the Dunes resort? How expensive are cabs there? is it reasonable for us to assume we can afford to cab it back and forth form the dunes to the city and vice versa?

thanks in advance!

Hi fellow Canadian.

I'm originally from Heart Lake.

You can plan on about US$35 to $50 for a really nice dinner for 2 with drinks or wine. The nearest locations to Dunes would be Playa El Agua or Juan Griego.

In Playa El Agua there are many restaurants - one of the most popular is El Pacifico.

Taxi to Playa El Aqua from Dunes is about US$7 one way.

Another place that has great restaurants is Sambil Mall - Steak house, Italian place, mexican place, Hard Rock Cafe & others.

Porlamar & Pampatar are full of great restaurants.

Escape the AI & enjoy Margarita.

Hi coronah, There is a wonderful local "steak house" called El Vaquero. It is on Av. 31 de Julio about 5 -10 minutes past Playa El Agua, before La Fuente, on the left.

The owner, Juan Carlos, speaks English and the food is delish. The restaurant phone number is 0295 242 12 55 and Juan Carlos cell is 0414 797 31 22. The menu is al la cart and IF you spend $10 bucks a person then you are famished. Figure around 10 bucks for the taxi.

wow thank you so much both of you - great tips!

Playa - I am really looking forward to getting out of this Canadian winter for a week! We're quite tired of -25C and piles of snow!

Mr.Z - thank you so much - that place sounds amazing!
