Greers Ferry - Red Apple Inn

Anyone know anything about the Red Apple Inn on Greers Ferry Lake in Heber Springs? Looking for a tranquil place for a few days of doing nothing. Red Apple Inn has been recommended. Can anyone provide me any details about the Inn and its surroundings?

The Red Apple Inn was built as the centerpiece of a very upscale development called Eden Isle on Greer's Ferry Lake near Heber Springs Arkansas. It is the prettiest of the man-made lakes in Arkansas with rock formations along the shores and fairly clear water. The lake is very popular and below the dam is the Little Red River which is stocked with trout. Eden Isle was built in the mid Twentieth Century by a wealthy family and they and many friends built beautiful custom designed vacation homes there. There is of course a gold course included. I have not stayed at the Inn but have spoken to some who are familiar with it. The consensus is that it has been purchased and probably still is owned by one of Arkansas's wealthiest people, a lady named Patti Upton, who owns a company called Aromatique. When built, it was the ultimate in sophisticated rustic living, with much natural stone yet luxury features. Knowing the style of the Aromatique people, it likely is kept up quite well. The reports are so good and the prices so reasonable, that I may have to take my family up to check it out.

Sorry for the typo above... make that "golf" course, not "gold" course!

Dependent on when your trip is, you might also consider Little Rock's Capitol Hotel. This 1870's building has undergone a massive restoration, its second in the last two decades and is scheduled to reopen soon. It is under the ownership of another wealthy family who does things in a first class manner. This should add a huge dimension to the central Arkansas hospitality industry.
