sending payments from Aust to Vanuatu

I need to pay a deposit for accommodation in Santo.

I thought it would be cheaper to transfer the money from my account to theirs rather than pay the 5% c/c fee

But the exchange rate is soooo variable?

Any thoughts on the cheapest way to pay?

I thought going by the currency exchange rates I've googled 180,000 vatu varies between AUD$1500 & $1900

so I thought I'd just send $2000AUD to cover any charges their end BUT

The rate NAB is giving me isn't even going to cover 170,000vatu!

Is the currency exchange rate different with a credit card?

I'm totally confused

Hiya Lulu, we grabbed a special on at Bokissa Is for 5 nights (planning on diving a bit) and are spending the last 2 nights of our week in town, May 10th to 17th.

We have a week in Port Vila either side, first diving, last goofing off!

Where are you folks headed? Send a PM if you don't want to make it public :-)

Cheerz Wabster.

Speak to Goodies. You can deposit money into their AUSTRALIAN bank account (ie no fees) and they will make vatu available in VANUATU.

Also email Jan at Bokissa and get their bank account details,

and give this to Goodies as the place you want the money to be deposited.

You need to contact Tal (I think that's the name) at Goodies to get it organised. PM if you want his email address.
