Penang Hill, Botanic Gardens and Kek Loh Si

Hi. We are about a week in Penang and keen to visit Penang Hill and Kek Loh Si and the Botanical Gardens. We wondered if you can do these three independently or if it is better to take a tour? If you can do it independently, are they all close by and easy to walk around the three of them once there by funicular train? Which order would you recommend? thanks.

Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si are about 1.5 klm's apart, Whilst it is possible to walk between the two, most choose to use taxi's or private transfer. The gardens are about 8 klm's from the temple. Again most use taxi or private transfer. Whilst all are connected by Rapid Buses it would require three separate bus trips.

I would recommend using a company like Ocean Jupiter to take you to the three, Gardens early in the morning or late afternoon for more animal life. Hill in the afternoon with sun behind, therefore clearer view of Georgetown and mainland. Visit Kek Lok Si in the morning before the heat.

You hava a week in Penang. Getting those three location with bus would be easy. Otherwise private transport is a plus. However, Botanical garden are mainly plant's and for locals to jog/exercise. Thus, its better you get a taxi or bus and enjoy your time there rather that getting a private transport and charge you /hrs.
