we have 16 days in Myanmar. whats the best route to do it ?

hi, although i did backpack a lot around SE Asia , this is going to be my first time in Burma and i wanted to ask what would be the best route to do if we want to do Bagan,Inle,Mandalay, Irawaddy, Rangoon and Ngapali Beach ? Can anybody advise what would be the best way to do this without rushing around too much ?

we are flying into Bagan from Bangkok, working our way down. would ideally like to spend 3 days in Ngapali before going back to Rangoon.

we then want to fly out of Burma Rangoon into Cambodia Siem Reap.

any advice will be much appreciated :)

"Flying into Bagan from Bangkok"

How??There are no International flights to Bagan.

Moving on -The usual routing is clockwise as that is the way the airline schedules usually operate.

So

My thoughts would be Yangon-Mandalay-river to Bagan-Inle-Heho to Ngapali Beach-Yangon

How many nights/days in each will depend on what you want to do/see but I would recommend 2 nights on arrival In Yangon and a further night before your International departure. You should be able to spend 2/3 nights everywhere in your time frame and finish with 3 days R&R at Ngapai Beach. Currently there are no direct flights into Siem Reap so you need to backtrack via Bangkok (unless things change)

hope this helps

How long do you have and what is your budget? Please not that accomodation will be double or even triple tha of Cambodia, as things have gotten quite expensive the past several years. Also, when do yo uplan on visiting? Nov. ~Feb. are peak tourist months and most hotels are already booked up for the popular cities (Bagan, Yangon, Mandalay, Inle area)

you only have 16 days so don't cram too much...remember, to visit Ngapali you have to fly to/from Thandwe and it isn't really worth it unless you spend at least a couple days there. Do the trip in ONE direction...ie fly into Mandalay, then travel down to Bagan, then across to Inle, then to Yangon...or IF you do include Ngapali then you can fly direct from Heho to Thandwe, so - Mandalay-Bagan-Inle, fly to Thandwe for Ngapali, fly to Yangon, and from there back to Bangkok.
