boy...keg and tommo..u guys get get around....have you both been to Gen San..and if so..what hotel do you recommend in the city...Is the place safe for a group of naive Foreigners...thanks
Personally I wouldnt go there myself. There are a lot safer destinations to travel within the Philippines.
But some people are not capable of finding the information from a widely travelled 'Mr Google.' Keg and I are!
If you are looking for a recommendation leftovertoo why not try the East Asia Royale Hotel as its the best ranked by TA in the area. If you dont come back we definitely know its not safe. lol.
tommo -how you know that other places are safer than gen santos unless u have visited,i was there in april -stayed one night before going to gumasa beach in sarangani province and lake sebu -south cotobato ,from there we travelled thru many muslim areas -korondal city etc and didnt encounter any problems .
We stayed at East Asia Royale and I recommend it as it is one of the most popular hotels in the city for business and leisure travelers. When I went to Gen San I am with 2 of my former classmates which are both from Germany and I don't think they felt unsafe anytime during our stay. Those 2 tall Germans got a lot of stare when we pass by groups of people but it never bothered them.
how are taxis out of the airport......and how are taxis in the city..like davao..meters on no problem or more like the Manila cabs...
Taxis from the airport are not metered. 2 years ago there are just a couple of taxis stationed at a mall, airport and another terminal. Ask your hotel to pick you up as the airport is somewhat inaccessible by public transportation.
