We drove from Hua Hin early March and spent two nights again at the Numsai Khaosuay Resort. Ranong was busy as there was a soccer match on the first night we were there. Relaxing by the pool and dinner at the resort was again most enjoyable. A leisurely stroll up to the local market for a delicious rice and chicken meal with a side bowl of chicken broth.
On our second day we went for a drive to the fishing port, then went for a walk around this area and down to the pier were the boats take you to Little Koh Chang. From here we drove to the main shipping terminal where you got a better view of Burma. We then drove a bit further to the Keing Lay restaurant which is waterfront and the view here over to Burma was beautiful. This restaurant has buffet lunches and caters for mostly Thais.
Back driving around Ranong town, which by the way has some lovely parks, we stopped at the Rattana Rangsam Palace which is all teak. We paid an addmission fee (sorry my receipt is in Thai and I cant remember how much we paid) you are not allowed to take photos inside the palace. There are narrow steep stairs in parts. Definitely worth a visit if you have the time and are really wanting to see what Ranong does have to offer.
There is a statue of the first Govenor of Ranong which all the locals give a toot to when driving past. .
From Ranong we drove to Nai Yang on Phuket to catch up with friends. CJ
