Sosua and excursions with a 7 year old

Leaving tomorrow for 1 week, will be staying at the Casa Marina Reef. It's our family's first time at an all inclusive resort. I cant wait!

I have some questions though about excursions that would be appropriate for my son, who's 7. I want him to have fun but also be safe, and be with us. Not some separate activities.

I was thinking of doing the Monkey Jungle and Zip line. It says on their site they can accomodate any age... Does that mean he can do the zip line or they can watch him while we do it or... I'd like for him to participate in our activities and not have him wait around.

I was also looking at the Rancho Lobo Gris. On their site I'm confused as well... It says kids under 8 can do the equine instruction program. Again, does that mean we'll go our separate ways or he has a teacher with him or...

Finally, I was thinking of making a day of the Cable Car/Mount Isabel de Torres and the Fort San Felipe in Puerto plata. Is that a realistic day or is it too packed? Are there any excursions with those activities?

Thanks for any help!

Here is my list of tourist related stuff that you REALLY don't need a tour company for and works for kids

Monkeys, caves and zipline

Easy cave tour

One of the best is things to do on your own here

Drive to and hike

Fun City Action Park

This go-kart racing park is located 15 km east of Puerto Plata. The park offers 4 racing tracks with go-kart, sprint, midget, grand prix

Cable Car ride

Mt Isabel de Torres in Puerto Plata

Mt Isabel de Torres in Puerto PlataRising almost 800 metres above sea level, Mt Isabel is the most prominent natural landmark in Puerto Plata. For an outstanding panoramic view of the city, take the seven-minute cable car ride to the top. The botanical gardens at the peak are nice, with walking trails cutting through swaths of tropical vegetation. There is also a statue of Christ here standing guard over Puerto Plata.

I did the monkey jungle/ zip lining in early April. I did see a young girl around the age of 7 zip lining; however, one of the guides came down the line directly behind her, close enough to help her out if need be. I'm sure your son would enjoy the monkey jungle part of the excursion also. We stayed at Casa Marina and booked the trip through Mel's tours, which is out the front door of the resort, turn right and walk up the street, you will see the shop across the street. The company has a taxi pick you up at the resort and take you to the site of the excursion. The whole trip took about 2.5 hours. the taxi driver will wait for you to complete your excursion.

All the above is great information. Your kid will love Monkey Jungle and yes he can zip as well and they will "piggy back" a guide to him on the zip line.
