Iberostar grand hotel bavaro..variety of food..

Just curious on the variety of food at the resort. I see in all the pictures everyone is eating lobster, crab ..some fish or a steak. Is there any chicken or pork in the buffet or bbq. Can you get things like nachos..popcorn or any other snack type foods around the pool?? We are booked for 10 days the beginning of april..i've been searching everywhere to try and find picks of something different but can't

Thanks

There is a lunch buffet beside the pool and they serve nachos and all the fixings. The only place we saw popcorn was in the lobby bar or at the neighbouring Iberostar Bavaro lunch buffet. We saw people with plates around the pool at the Grand. Not sure if they ordered from a menu or if they simply brought food from the lunch buffet.

They had chicken and pork at the lunch and dinner buffets. I requested a chicken breast to be cooked for me at the surf and turf restaurant (which was no problem at all). You can make requests at all the restaurants and the buffet.

The only place they seem to BBQ is at the lunch buffet.

Nismo350, Remember this one is for adults only and maybe the have a heaviest menu, but you have the option to look around, always on the buffet they have every day a different menu, also, if you want to go another restaurant you are allow as you can get bavaro or dominicana, but they are not allow to go the grand restaurant, this is to make something diferent for one day, this is if they have not change the rule on Dicember.

Nismo: Your at the Grand so when walking down to the beach turn left to the Bavaro Nextdoor. They have a lovely beach bar with the best fries around. Might be a 1 minute walk from the edge of the Grand.Popcorn and nacho's as well. Great little patio to sit and have that beer watching the beach walk by.

Enjoy your stay...

You should be fine - we definitely found more than just lobster and steak when we were there last year :) At the lunch buffet, I personally enjoyed the chicken fingers, nachos (added the melted cheese, chicken from salad bar and pico de gallo!), onion rings, meatballs and chicken kabobs/skewers. My husband went the fancier route and had lamb chops, oxtails and paella (in addition to the steaks/seafood).. they also had grilled-to-order burgers and hot dogs on the mini-grill area in the back of the lunch buffet, and there was also a lot of fresh salads, fruits, etc.. In my opinion, there was a little of everything!

Side note - we brought plates of nachos and french fries down to the beach/by the pool - not sure if other people were served or if we were "supposed to," but we did and nobody seemed to care :)

On the dinner buffet, they definitely had the shellfish and steaks, but there were also several other options - we preferred the "cooked to order" items. We went for Mexican night and had made-to-order fajita-style tacos (different meat options) and we had cooked-to-order pasta on another night (you could add whatever ingredients you wanted). We mainly ate seafood and steak in the a la cartes, but I'm sure there must have been chicken/pork somewhere - we just don't remember having it (and if not, I'm sure they'd cook it for you if you just ask!).

Hope that helps!
