Is Seefeld the right "family" winter holiday destination?

Hi guys.

Is Seefeld a good winter destination for a family with very young children?

We are heading to Europe for our first white Christmas and Seefeld has been suggested to us as a friendly destination for a family with 2 kids (aged 3 months and 3 years). It would be great to have your views on this.

And how long is too long for a family with young kids? We are not there to ski but instead to enjoy Christmas in a winter wonderland.

And of any hotels with 2 to 3 rooms and a kitchen that you could recommend?

Thanks.

Seefeld makes a fine destination in my opinion for a family,

This is a nice village. big enough for good services and yet small enough to provide a nice feeling.

The village center is a pedestrian zone. At this holiday time nicely decorated -

Christmas market stalls

Much to do for non skiers-

mountain walks through nice scenery- often seeing deer and other animals. trails well marked and maintained.

Non skiers can ride mountain lifts to the higher peaks for fun too.

Ice skating on good rinks - horse sleigh rides -

easy train ride in about 30 minutes to Innsbruck for sightseeing .

For a general Winter family holiday not looking to ski - yes.

As you don't appear to be interested in the skiing part you also have the option of days out as Seefeld has its own train station. You can visit Innsbruck in one direction ( ~ 40mins) or Mittenwald and Garmisch (in Germany) in the other (~ 20mins & ~ 45mins)

We love Seefeld at any time but at Christmas it seems magical. Beautiful decorations and atmosphere. You will see many young families outside walking or sledding with their families. Plenty to do and as already stated, easy to take day trips.

We go every Christmas and we love it. One thing to note is that the shops are open every day during the Christmas season in Seefeld. Lots of other places shut down from the 24th to the 27th of December.

When do you usually reserve the hotel? I am looking for Christmas 2012, and nothing is showing as available.

Contact hotels directly . They can offer prices and take reservations.

This can be even done now- it is not too soon.

Better places book up quickly.

Last Christmas we were surprised at how any apartments, B and B's, hotels, etc. had vacancy signs even during Christmas week. We always stay at the same place (sonneck) so we kind of have a standing reservation. My brother in law rented a nice apartment at the Hiltpolt in August.
