i worked at the castle harbour hotel back in 1981, and worked with some really fantastic people had a great time, i think the name of the place for snorkeling was harrington sound ( it had a name like that ) so they pulled the old place down, funny because i mate found me on face book last year and we a good long chat about the hotel and staff and the bars and stuff.

The old Castle Harbour closed for renovations in November, 1984....and then reopened again the following year, June, 1985 as the Marriott Castle Harbour Hotel with a large addition built into the hillside above the Castle Harbour inlet (if you recall, the airport was in view across the water) not the nearby, land-locked Harrington Sound a bit farther to the west). Under Marriott's management, the hotel continued to operate untill 1999, when the Castle Harbour Hotel finally closed again...this time forever.

The entire Castle Harbour property--hotel, golf course and undevelopped real estate was sold to a new developer, who planned to rebuild a new, smaller hotel on the property by 2001 renovate and redesign the golf course and redevelop the under-utilized, undeveloped real estate as a mix of private homes and fractional-ownership condos under the name of TUCKER'S POINT CLUB. The golf course was renovated and construction and sale of private homes and fractional-ownership condos began as scheduled. The old hotel was demolished--the newer Marriott 'addition' on the Castle Harbour hillside was completely demolished as was all but the structural steel 'skeleton' of the original Castle Harbour hotel building up on the hilltop.

Finally, a new, smaller (88 rooms & suites) hotel was constructed, utilizing the '..bones..' (the over-strength, structural steel framework) of the original Castle Harbour Hotel and openned in April, 2009 as the TUCKER'S POINT HOTEL & SPA-- http://www.tuckerspoint.com/ . Most recently, the Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa has come under the marketing and management umbrella of the Rosewood Hotel group.

These property diagrams of the new Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa and Tucker's Point Club might refresh memory of the old hotel, golf course and property--
