Big bear crowded over Labor Day weekend?

My boyfriend and I are plannng to stay in upper moonridge over Labor Day weekend. A friend of mine mentioned that she knows the area very well and that Labor Day weekend will be unbelievably crowded. She said don't plan on going out to eat or doing any excursions because of the crowds. Is this true? She mentioned bringing food with me to cook all weekend (coming from OC, so that's a possibility). Thanks!

It will be crowded but not as crowded as during snow season. If you decide to bring food, just bring condiments, foil/plastic wrap, etc. There are groceries in Big Bear plus you might want to get take out. Also crowds at restaurants will depend on the time of day you go - go a little early/late and you'll have better luck.
