transportation from LA to Big Bear

We are thinking of a Big Bear Christmas but I don't really like to drive if there's wintry weather.Anyone know of buses that run from LA?

There are no direct buses. You can connect via San Bernardino--take a Metrolink train or a Greyhound bus from Los Angeles to San Bernardino. You could then take a Mountain Area Regional Transit Agency bus up hill to Big Bear, there are a few trips a day, I believe. citybigbearlake.com/ourCommunity/publicTrans…

You could run into problems getting around locally in Big Bear once you're there, maybe other people can advise on that.

You can take Metrolink (San Bernardino Line) from LA to San Bernardino, then transfer directly to MARTA's "Off-the-Mountain" service.

Especially during the winter, I strongly recommend you check the MARTA website for service disruptions and re-routes. Snowfall often affects the schedule, and a particularly bad day of weather can result in a service cancellation.

MARTA also runs local bus service in Big Bear: http://www.marta.cc/local.html
