Our first trip to Long Bay Beach at The Shore Club was May 6-13. The water was a beautiful turquoise and very flat (no waves). Winds varied from calm to 17-18 mph during our stay. Only saw kite surfers 3 or 4 days.
The beach in front of The Shore Club is beautiful. The only negative is there is a band of rocks about 6 feet wide that runs parallel to the beach. Water shoes would help navigate through the rocks. Once you clear them, no issues walking. The water is very shallow compared to Grace Bay. A shipwreck is 2 miles off shore, sitting in 5 feet of water. I walked 1 1/2 miles out to it and the water only came up to my chest and I could still see my toes. Crystal clear water!
During our morning walks on the beach, we did see stretches where there were broken conch shells along the waterline and into the water. My wife read that there was once a conch farms located on Long Bay which would explain the large amounts of broken shells.
While we were there we saw several families with very small children playing in the water.
