Three main options....

1) Take a taxi, but this is likely to be $100+

2) take a shared van - unlike a taxi, these can stop along the way (and detour) to pick up or drop off other passengers. They can also circle the airport once or twice at LAX to try and fill the van. Bottom line is can take a lot longer than a taxi. But also a lot cheaper for small parties - looks like roughly $25 per passenger. www.primetimeshuttle.com and www.supershuttle.com

3) The cheapest way is to take the FlyAway bus from LAX to Union Station in downtown LA ($7 per person) and then from Union Station, take the Metrolink train (either the Antelope Valley train or the Ventura County Train) to the Burbank airport station - $6 per person, or Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner Train to the same station (Amtrak will be more money but they run more trains throughout the day)

If you don't have a lot of luggage, the cheapest option is via the local bus system. Here are the steps:

1. Transfer to the LAX Transit Center just outside of the airport. This is the bus plaza on 96th St, just east of Vicksburg Av. You can get there via the free "Parking Lot C" shuttle bus that pulls up in front of each terminal under the RED overhead signs that say "Hotel & Parking Lot Shuttles" at the traffic island in the roadway in front of each terminal. Ask the driver where to get off for the bus plaza.

2. Take the #42 bus from parking space #13 at the bus plaza. Get off at the southeast corner of Broadway & Venice Bl. Cross to the northeast corner and get on the #794 bus heading north on Broadway.

3. Get off at Hollywood Way & Thornton Av and walk into the airport (which is across the street).

The entire trip will take about 2 hours and cost $3 ($1.50 for each bus).

Compared to the Flyaway + train option, the transfer time will be about the same or maybe a little shorter since the trains don't run as often as the buses.

Note: there is no provision for luggage storage on the city buses so you'll need to stow your luggage at your feet. There is also no guarantee of a seat for all or part of your journey.
