Calistoga-Rehearsal Dinner Suggestions

I'm getting married at Calistoga Ranch in September and would appreciate suggestions on venues in the area for a rehearsal dinner (approx. 70 guests) A vineyard setting would be ideal. Thanks in advance!

A couple of places to consider;...

1) Do a private affair at nearby Castello di Amarosa - for more information, see their web site:

www.castellodiamorosa.com/index.cfm…

2) Etoile - Restaurant at Chandon Winery

chandon.com/etoile-restaurant/private-dining…

3) Also Calistoga Ranch is superb; they might be able to help you arrange something at Auberge du Soleil, a sister property

There are others...

Congratulations.

Also consider the Cask Room at Merryvale Winery - a few miles away in St. Helena

Thank you so much for the input! Calistoga ranch is amazing but not a winery so I feel it's important to provide guests with a wine country experience the night before the wedding. I'm open to anything within 30 minutes of calistoga.

Specifically I'm looking for a venue with the following:

Winery

Outdoor

View/vineyard setting

Your collaboration is so much appreciated!

a few more questions:

1) How far are guests willing to travel from Calistoga Ranch?

2) How formal or informal of a dinner are you looking for?

3) What time for dinner? It gets dark by 7:00ish in September - and most people tend to do dinner around that time in California. Its one of the reason why most wineries close between 4:00 and 6:00 for the day; some as mentioned do have dinner areas for private affairs - but you have already nixed them from the list. Were you thinking more of an afternoon reception?

Also, is a winery or vineyards more important? For example, there are wineries who do not have vineyards as they buy their grapes from growers.

It will eliminate a lot of wineries from the list.

4) Also what price range?

5) Would you and your guests be ok with views of the vineyards with the dinner inside - take a look at Trentadue Winery as it is at a winery, has vineyards, and a large reception area for the dinner (but it is inside).

http://www.trentadue.com/weddings-and-events/

What are you looking for - remember its harvest season; your ideal vineyards might actually be being picked under huge lights in the night hours as it might be th best time for harvest. But no one will know till a few hours before - will that spoil your ideal wedding or not. Are you ok with the crazy trucks driving up and down the valley; more insects out as grapes are prime for picking (they like the juicy ones too.).

Give us more - thanks.

a lot of wineries have "black out" dates in September and October due to crush and yearly events Try Hans Fayden in Calistoga- it's a gorgeous spot, you can have a reception outside and then dinner in the caves. www.hansfahden.com

Congratulations!

Really, really excellent advice here, Amy, from both mini and Segway.

We'd also suggest Castello di Amorosa or the Cask room at Merryvale.

Congratulations-- and good luck! :o)

Wow, great ideas!

Based on your advice I am now leaning towards a venue indoors with a balcony/terrace with a view (excluding caves) 6:30-9:30ish

Ideally 20-30 mins max from calistoga.

60 guests

Thinking more of a social event vs sit down dinner. Heavy app's and beer and wine.

Budget is flexible.
