My boyfriend and I will be taking a 4-day trip to Cambria from Los Angeles in early August. I've been there a couple of times with my family when I was younger and he has never been. I loved it there and thought that the scenery was spectacular. Now that I'm older and will be going with my boyfriend, I'd like to have a romantic and relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of work and the city.
We're staying at the Little Sur Inn, right across from Moonstone Beach. What will the weather be like in early August? I'd imagine it's cool (mid-60s to low-70s, maybe), but is it the kind of weather where we will be wearing sweaters/jackets the whole time we're there? I just want to be prepared and pack accordingly.
We want to spend as much time outdoors as possible, so we're going to pack a lot of food and have picnics wherever we can. Does anyone now of any good places to have a picnic in Cambria and San Simeon? Are there any places in particular where we can have a picnic under windswept trees overlooking the ocean? (I know that's very specific, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I was just wondering.) Aside from Moonstone Beach, we'd also like to maybe see some dramatic trees, but I don't know if there's anything like that south of Big Sur.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
