Need help from West Australian's on flights to Niseko please

Hi Perthites.

What is the cheapest way to get to Niseko. Do you fly to the East Coast then onto Tokyo or Sapporo? Is it better to go through an Asian city like Singapore or Hong Kong?

Is it cheaper to fly return to Tokyo then return to Sapporo. I am finding the flights from Tokyo to Sapporo around A$1,000 return.

Have even thought of the overnight train but that is the same price as the airfare.

Would appreciate some tips thanks.

You could check Webjet for various flight options and cost.

Cheapest way is to ticket from Perth to Sapporo.

Otherwise use a low cost airline from Tokyo (Skymark or Air Do) or arrange an airpass (JAL or ANA) before departure (2x 13,000yen).

Niseko is 2 hours + in a bus from New Chitose depending on the weather.

Try Korean Air and China Air (Taiwan); we have used both for Japan visits from Brisbane. Both should service Sapporo Chitose airport.

You may need to travel from Perth through an intermediate port. Jetstar Malaysian and Cathay may suit this arrangement.

There is often a serious difference in cost between standard fares and specials offered by specific airlines.

Thanks Bluetek

The airpass looks like a great idea and will save us money.

Do you know how to get them? The ANA pass would be best for us and I went to their website but there was no option to book with a pass?????

Have you done this?

For such complex air travel products, you have to check with a travel agent. A good travel agent might be able to lump your ticket together somehow and save you a lot of money so check with a couple of them at least. A Chinatown agent might be more versed in these products as well.

Try contacting a Japanese travel agent that sells the JR rail pass. JTB and H.I.S. are two major ones.

Flight Centre online shows Perth - Sapporo at about $1,560 return (Qantas with a JAL domestic codeshare - NRT - CTS). Would mean a bus transit from Narita - Haneda (90 minutes).
