Coronado Island with a 4-year old

Does anyone have any specific suggestions for special things to do with a 4-year old in Coronado Island? We want to visit the San Diego Zoo, explore the beaches on the Island and in San Diego, and maybe take a day trip into Mexico.

Any advice on a good bike rental shop as well?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or ideas!

I would skip the trip into Tijuana with a 4 year old. Tijuana is a border town and not true Mexico. While our kids have been to Mexico on several occasions, we have not taken the kids yet as there is really nothing for them to do. Other than shopping - which my 9 & 5 year olds get whiny after a while - there is no excitement or even anything very interesting for them. You can get just as good deals if not better in San Diego.

Where are you staying in Coronado. If you are at Loews they have a lot of fun poolside activities for the kids as well as free loaner beach chairs, boogie boards and umbrellas. You can hire a sailboats with or without a captain and cruise the bay.

If you haven't been to Legoland - it is worth the drive up to Carlsbad for the little one. They are a perfect age for many of the rides and activities. My kids at that age also preferred Sea World to the Zoo - but both are wonderful.

Have a wonderful trip.

I would try to fit in SeaWorld, we visited for the first time last December and have a great time. There are rides, shows and first-class exhibits here. The sky ride over Mission Bay is also fun. Enjoy your travels! :)

Yes, Seaworld is a great place and has water attractions, a play area and hands on animal shows for your lil girl. You may also want to visit Belmont Park where there is an amusement area as well as the beach nearby. Belmont is located near Sea World. The zoo is another great place to take her or any of the centers in Balboa Park such as the Reuben H. Fleet Center. There is a specific area inside Reuben H. Fleet Center especially made for preschoolers and young children. And right across the street from The Reuben H. Fleet center is a rose and cactus garden where you can take a family walk to see the different plants they have. Hope that helps! Have a great visit !! (^_^)
