Charter for Sea Burial (Scattering Ashes)

I am in need of suggestions for chartering a boat out of Dana Point to scatter a loved one's ashes. Thank you in advance!

CVV88, welcome to the forums.

Dana Wharf and Captain Dave's have good reputations.

I will say, though, you need to tell them your plans BEFORE you book. Some places may be uncomfortable with the idea.

And some places require a permit to scatter ashes, even at sea.

You don't need a permit to scatter the ashes. You just need to follow the rules. I found a private boat owner who took my family out a a few miles to scatter our relative's ashes. The companies that advertise this service all wanted a LOT of money.
