Thank you to everyone who contributed to our visit up the coast. We ended up staying at the Best Western Bayshore and we are glad we did. It is enough off the highway to not be bothered by the noise except for the late nighters at McDonalds. The Humboldt is smack dab between the north and south 101 - a very busy road. I loved the architecture in Olt Town and some people actually what the town looks like. We had two very different meals while in town - one at Lost Coast Brewery and the other at the Sea Grill. We got to see the local turkeys wandering around and got to see a few homeless people, but nothing like the horror stories that some people posted. I think the restaurant options in Eureka are better than a lot of the other towns. We found Trinidad to be very quaint and New Englandy, Arcata did not impress us a whole lot, and Crescent City had some better hotels than I had expected. We found a couple of casinos which was good for us. We drove up the Avenue of the Giants and saw Redwoods and four or so different herds of elk - one of then intermingling with a herd of horses, a truly bizarre and entertaining sight. So thank you again everyone for your help.
