A Couple/Few Hours in La Jolla

The last time we were in La Jolla (a couple years ago), we ate at The Cottage. We loved it. If we have a couple/few hours to go back, what what you suggest for dinner? Is there anywhere special we should go for dessert? It will be myself and a well behaved 7 year old. We have a car and can drive anywhere.

I seem to recall the seals were most interesting to see in the morning and evening hours. Is this true?

Where to go for dinner in La Jolla? My favorites are the Prep Kitchen, Whisk & Ladle, George's (in ascending price order). For a special dessert in LJ try Forever Fondue for chocolate fondue or Cups for cupcakes.

Are you staying in La Jolla? If not, there is a great dessert place called Extraordinary Desserts. They have two locations in San Diego (Little Italy and Hillcrest).

The harbor seals can be seen throughout the day at Children's Cove, although in summer they often haul out during the day and you may find a nearly empty beach. The sea lions at the LJ Cove are a lot of fun to watch. Your 7-year old will get a kick out of their antics.

George's is really good with pretty views! Make a reservation here, they are on opentable. :)

Love Panikin Brockton Villa. You might like if you liked the Cottage. Its much more casual and laid back than George's and you can get a glimpse of the cove from there. http://www.brocktonvilla.com/

We will be staying in the Mission Bay area. Is Extraordinary Desserts nearer there? Is Extraordinary Desserts a sit down place or take out only?
