Laguna Beach for the afternoon...

Hi. We'll be passing through Laguna Beach on our way to Anaheim and are looking for a great place to stop and have lunch. A view would be nice but most important is in an area where we can walk around and get a feel for Laguna Beach(if the weather cooperates). It'll be on a Monday afternoon in January. We're looking for something no too expensive or fancy, something more laid back to go with the California feel. Something that really has the Laguna Beach feel in a interesting area. Thanks!

Moved here a year ago from the east coast -- don't miss the drive on PCH on the north side of San Clemente coming into Laguna Beach. Some of the views while driving will take your breath away. Aliso Creek beach for example. The pier in San Clemente won't strike you as all that different from many east coast piers. But PCH from Dana Point to Newport Coast will really show you what I think you're wanting to see!!

PS Las Brisas is a total waste of time IMO. Lunch in Laguna? Here's a recommendation you won't hear often. If you want to be right on top of the beach (without paying the price of the Surf & Sand's Splashes which is nice but upscale or the Montage which is very $$$$) then try this: The Hotel Laguna's restaurant. Right downtown. Walk all the way through the hotel lobby to the beach. If the weather's nice (and it likely will be) sit outside. The food is definitely not great -- but the setting is casual, beachy, affordable and totally relaxing!! Also recommend Nick's, which is not on the water, but has the vibe you're looking for.

MissMetNY -- The Oceanview Bar and Grill that you mentioned IS the restaurant at the Hotel Laguna mentioned by Calibre57. It had another name until recently (I believe the Terrace), but most locals just refer to it as the place at Hotel Laguna. BTW -- DO NOT stay at Hotel Laguna. It is a dump. The restaurant gets mixed reviews. It looks like it depends on when you go (and who's flipping the burgers).
